Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you want to know about Luqma POS — from pricing and features to setup, integrations and UAE VAT support.
What is Luqma POS?
Luqma POS is a cloud-based restaurant management system built in Dubai. It covers the full operational stack: cashier app, server tablet, kitchen display system (KDS), digital menus, QR table ordering, inventory management and reporting — all in one platform.
Unlike general-purpose POS products, Luqma is designed from the ground up for multi-brand cloud kitchens and UAE F&B operators.
Who is Luqma POS built for?
Luqma POS is built for UAE restaurants, cloud kitchens and multi-brand F&B operators. It is especially well-suited to operators running more than one brand from a single kitchen, where managing separate POS systems per brand creates chaos and reporting gaps.
Single-brand restaurants, cafés and coffee shops also use Luqma for its clean interface, fast onboarding and UAE-native VAT handling.
Where is Luqma POS based?
Luqma POS is headquartered in Dubai, UAE — specifically at D-Tech, Dubai Silicon Oasis. The product team, support team and data infrastructure are all based inside the UAE. You can reach us at +971 58 613 6146 or info@luqma.food.
Is Luqma POS available outside Dubai?
Yes. Luqma POS is a cloud-based system that works across all 7 UAE emirates — Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain. Onboarding is handled remotely and typically takes less than a day. You do not need an on-site engineer unless you are an Enterprise customer in Dubai.
What languages does Luqma POS support?
Luqma POS supports English and Arabic. Customer support is available in both languages. The customer-facing ordering experience (QR menus) also supports Arabic display.
What features does the Basic plan include?
The Basic plan (AED 149/mo per branch) includes:
- Cashier app with multi-brand selector
- Server tablet for table-side ordering
- Kitchen display system (KDS) with station routing
- Digital menu management
- Reports and menu engineering
- Role-based access control (Company Admin, Brand Manager, Cashier, etc.)
- Receipt printing (thermal ESC/POS)
- KOT printing (kitchen order tickets)
- Dispatcher screen for delivery
- Shift management & cash reconciliation
- UAE VAT receipts and Z-reports with VAT breakdown
- Email support
What is a Kitchen Display System (KDS)?
A Kitchen Display System (KDS) is a screen in the kitchen that shows incoming orders in real time — replacing paper tickets. In Luqma, orders are routed automatically to the correct station (e.g., shawarma grill, bakery, cold prep) the moment a cashier sends them.
Kitchen staff can bump a ticket when the item is ready, which updates the server tablet and cashier screen instantly. This keeps the whole operation in sync without anyone shouting across the kitchen.
Can I run multiple brands from one kitchen?
Yes — this is Luqma's core strength. One cashier screen manages unlimited brands simultaneously. Each brand has its own menu, prices, operating hours and reporting. The cashier switches brands with a single tap, and orders from every brand route to the correct kitchen station automatically.
Operators running 2, 5 or 10 brands from one kitchen use Luqma as their single system — no separate logins, no spreadsheets, no manual reconciliation.
Does Luqma POS support QR table ordering?
Yes. QR table ordering is available on the Professional plan. Guests scan a QR code at the table and order directly from their phone. Orders go to the server for review before they hit the kitchen — giving you speed without losing quality control. No app download is required for guests.
Does Luqma POS have inventory management?
Yes, on the Professional plan and above. The inventory module includes:
- Recipe management — cost each menu item by ingredient
- Stock tracking — live stock levels by ingredient
- Purchase orders and supplier management
- Stock counts with variance approval workflow
- FIFO costing for accurate food cost reporting
- Food cost percentage per menu item and per brand
What delivery app integrations does Luqma POS have?
Aggregator integrations with Talabat, Careem, Noon Food, Deliveroo and Keeta are available for Enterprise customers and are also rolling out as a standard add-on. Contact the team at info@luqma.food to discuss your specific aggregator requirements and timeline.
Does Luqma POS work offline?
Luqma POS is primarily cloud-based and requires an internet connection for full functionality — real-time KDS updates, live reporting and cross-device sync all depend on connectivity. For specific offline requirements, contact the team to discuss your situation and what fallback options exist.
How much does Luqma POS cost?
Luqma POS starts from AED 149 per branch per month (Basic plan). The Professional plan is AED 299/mo per branch and adds inventory, QR ordering and split bills. Enterprise pricing is custom for chains with 5+ branches or complex requirements. All prices exclude 5% UAE VAT. See the full pricing page for a feature comparison.
Is pricing per branch or per company?
Pricing is per branch per month. If you have 3 physical locations, you pay for 3 branch subscriptions. Each branch subscription covers unlimited brands running at that location — so you are charged for locations, not for the number of brand names on your menu boards.
Are there setup fees or contracts?
No setup fees. No long-term contracts by default. You pay month-to-month and can cancel at any time. Enterprise customers may choose annual arrangements for better rates — ask the sales team.
Is hardware included?
Hardware — tablets, receipt printers, kitchen display screens — is sold separately. Luqma runs on standard Android tablets and works with ESC/POS thermal printers. The onboarding team will recommend compatible devices and can help you source them from UAE suppliers.
Do you offer a free trial or demo?
Yes. You can book a free 20-minute demo with the Luqma team — a live, guided walkthrough of the platform tailored to your type of operation. Our team will answer your questions and give you a tailored quote within 48 hours.
Are volume discounts available?
Yes. Operators with 5 or more branches qualify for volume discounts. Contact our sales team for a custom quote tailored to your number of branches and plan requirements.
How long does setup take?
Most operators go live within 1 day. The onboarding session covers: menu import, brand configuration, device setup, staff training and a test run on the cashier and KDS. The session is typically done over a call (or on-site in Dubai for Enterprise customers).
What hardware do I need?
You need:
- An Android tablet for the cashier screen
- An Android tablet per kitchen station (for KDS)
- An Android tablet per server (for server tablet ordering, optional)
- An ESC/POS thermal receipt printer
The Luqma onboarding team will confirm exact model recommendations based on your setup during the demo.
What support is available?
All plans are supported by the Luqma UAE team:
- Basic: Email support — response typically within business hours
- Professional: Priority support — faster response times
- Enterprise: SLA-backed support with defined response commitments
You can also reach the team by phone (+971 58 613 6146) or WhatsApp during UAE business hours.
Do you offer on-site training?
On-site training in Dubai is available for Enterprise customers. All other customers receive a comprehensive remote onboarding session — which is sufficient for most operations to go live successfully within a day.
How do I migrate from my current POS system?
The Luqma team handles the migration. Your menu data (items, modifiers, prices, categories) is imported during the onboarding session. Most restaurants migrate without any operational downtime — the new system goes live at the start of a shift. Staff training is included in onboarding.
Does Luqma POS support UAE VAT?
Yes. Luqma POS supports UAE 5% VAT calculations. VAT is applied automatically on every transaction, shown separately on receipts, and itemised in Z-reports and daily summaries.
Does Luqma POS show VAT on receipts?
Yes. Luqma receipts display the subtotal, VAT amount (5%) and total separately. Z-reports and shift summaries also include VAT breakdowns for your accounting records.
Is the data hosted in the UAE?
Yes. Luqma POS data is hosted inside the UAE. Your business data stays under UAE jurisdiction, with no data routed through international servers.
Is Luqma POS available in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and other emirates?
Yes. Luqma POS is cloud-based and works across all 7 UAE emirates. Customers in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain are onboarded remotely — no on-site visit required. The platform runs identically across all emirates.
